Romeo & Juliet
2024
WISCONSIN SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL
Romeo & Juliet is one of Shakespeare's most well-known plays and has become "overrated" in some opinions. This take set in modern-day Verona brought new life to the show. It let audience members connect in a way that most have not associated with this show before. The sound design aimed to be timeless, allowing for that timeless romance Romeo & Juliet has. Juliet's determination to be with Romeo and to take control of her own story guides the music, Juliet is the music in the world for all of those around her. Juliet's theme brought Romeo's theme to life and was often slowed down or sped up to match the pacing of Juliet's emotions.
