ORFEO

Written by Claudio Monteverdi

2025

LYRIC THEATRE AT ILLINOIS

A new take on the retelling of Orfeo & Euridice filled with magic and the natural world. The sound design included a "hell choir" that sang from the balcony level of the Tryon Festival Theatre, dramatic sound effects, and subtle vocal effects. Delay-based panning helped keep a natural feel while retelling Monteverdi's opera from 1907.

Lyric Theatre's production of Orfeo earned third place nationally in Division VII of the National Opera Association's Opera Production Competition for the 2024-2025 cycle.
