CONNECTICUT REPERTORY THEATRE
Synesthesia, a student-created and run production at the University of Connecticut, aimed to explore the world of individuals with Synesthesia and project imagery from music into a theatre space for the world to understand. The project was created by Lizi Shaul and Noah Ciccimarro and was performed for the first time at the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry on March 31, 2023.
The show was developed over a full year of collaboration with faculty advisors from the University of Connecticut's theatre and psychology departments. Noah and Lizi built a team passionate about the project and exploring the world of immersive theatre more. They slowly began to explore how each design element would convey what synesthesia looks and feels like to the synesthetes themselves. The show underwent an extensive yet condensed tech process to run for six sold-out shows.
